Art is one of the world’s most valuable resources. When people think of the most valuable things in the world they’ll often imagine gold coins. And to be sure, gold is so valuable that it’s the basis for many of the most significant monetary systems.

Paper money is often just a symbolic representation of an equivalent value of gold. However, the sheer amount of gold or any other precious metal out there demonstrates one of the big issues with it. Gold is rare, but hardly unique.

There are some valuable resources out there which are both desirable and unique. More often than not these resources are pieces of art. The link between art and currency might seem self apparent after considering the prior example of gold. But in general people think of art as a fairly separate item from currency itself. Currency might be used to purchase a piece of art.

But more often than not the art is considered somewhat invaluable. Meaning that the value of it in relation to set dollar amounts is continually inconclusive. But some new technology is finally making the link between art and currency a reality. 

The link comes in the form of cryptocurrency based technology. Cryptocurrency works with similar concepts. Cryptocurrency is itself a somewhat artistic concept. It’s a virtual form of money that’s abstracted within digital space.

But it’s now possible for people to use a token ring and artcoin to add extra security or value to their artistic expression. One of the most readily apparent benefits comes from forgery. Cryptocurrency uses a wide variety of security measures. And this translates to detection of both forged art and forged money.

As a result, one can be sure that artwork is actually the original work and not a knockoff. But the benefits continue past there. The link between art and cryptocurrency is new, but it’s obviously developing at a fast pace.
